When cattle are slaughtered, farmers make the euthanization process as quick and painless as possible. Only after a cow has passed, and can no longer feel pain, is the farm animal chopped apart.
People have different opinions about what legal protections animals deserve. However, can't we all agree that babies deserve at least as many or more legal protections than cattle?
Unfortunately, this is not the case. The abortion industry continues to offer "dismemberment abortions" for sale.
A dismemberment abortion is one in which a living unborn baby is dismembered, and the parts of the living unborn child are extracted one piece at a time from the uterus.
During dismemberment abortions, the unborn child is not anesthetized first. Nor is the child euthanized. Instead, the unborn child is awake, fully capable of feeling pain, while he or she is torn apart from limb.
Where is the compassion? Where is the common sense?
If its right to euthanize cattle before chopping them apart, how can it be right to subject alive and awake unborn babies to the same treatment?
Of course, every unborn baby deserves to be protected by law and welcomed into life. However, the fact that methods as cruel as dismemberment abortion are still commonly used on unborn children capable of feeling pain simply shows how thoughtless and tragic America's current abortion laws are.
The Pro-Life Committee, a project of the National Campaign, is urging passage of legislation to prohibit dismemberment abortions. Such legislation would save the lives of countless unborn babies, and by highlighting the fundamental humanity of the unborn child, would help bring America closer to the day when no unborn child need die from abortion.
Please take a moment to write or call your elected officials today. Ask them to help stop dismemberment abortions. Because unborn babies deserve at least as much protection as cattle.
